# Architecture & Environment
The module introduces students to the fundamental aspects of environmental conditions and concerns that must be considered in architectural design. It emphasizes the impact of human interventions on the environment, both positively and negatively, and the relationship between buildings and the natural world. Students will explore basic building design principles, passive design strategies, and methods for enhancing energy efficiency through integration with nature.
The teaching and learning approach will involve presenting students with real-life scenarios found in everyday environments, allowing them to develop environmentally conscious and comfortable building designs. The module will be supported by various instructional methods, including face-to-face lectures, tutorials, asynchronous learning, and feedback sessions to ensure alignment with learning outcomes. Assessment will occur through tests and assignments, including both group and individual work, focusing on real-life issues and case-based learning.

In the realm of modern architecture, the pursuit of sustainable and comfortable living spaces is paramount. However, contemporary housing often grapples with challenges such as inadequate daylighting and suboptimal thermal comfort, necessitating heavy reliance on artificial lighting and mechanical cooling systems. Recognizing these pressing concerns, our group of five students embarks on a comprehensive exploration aimed at mitigating these issues through the lens of passive design principles. Focused on a double-storey semi-detached house, our assignment delves into the intricacies of daylight distribution and thermal comfort within specific spaces: the living room and master bedroom. Through meticulous data collection, analysis, and innovative ideation, we endeavor to unearth effective strategies for enhancing both environmental quality and energy efficiency.
